When I chose to stop comparing myself to others, all others, I became free to be myself. Fantasizing freedom opens so many doors to what freedom really is. To me freedom is being myself without apologies.
I am the only me there is, you are the only you. Be the best you can be and watch miracles happen. They can show up in so many ways. Being content with who you see in the mirror. Not being controlled by what you see in the mirror, on the scale, in a fashion magazine, etc...
Big, small, short, tall, blonde, brunette, size 1 or 16? You are beautiful in your own right. Beautiful: "excellent of its kind". You are ONE of a kind. Put a smile on and you turn into a beauty.
It is my opinion, ugliness comes from the inside. An ugly attitude of competition, anxiety, dismay, dread, confusion, gossip, selfishness or mean, hostile and quarrelsome. When someone says; I'll see you later and you think: "Not if I see you first." THAT is ugliness.
If you are trying to be someone or something you are inherently NOT, that is ugly. Be who you are. Changing yourself with plastic surgery does not make you more beautiful it only makes you someone else. Robbing us of the real YOU.
I once met a physically ugly woman. My first thought was: OMG, she got hit with the ugly stick. Within months of working with her every day, I looked at her so differently. She was kind and thoughtful and musically talented. She was, in fact, one of the most beautiful creatures I have known. This experience changed the way I defined beauty.
It took a lot longer to apply that attitude toward myself. Don't wait to see yourself in the true light of who God created you to be. Song of Solomon 4:7 ESV “You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.”
