Worrying about what was going on over at the neighbors' house is a waste of time. I remember talking to a friend about my neighbors one day. What she said to me was priceless. "What other people think of you, is none of your business." Ouch. I don't have any control over what others think of me. AND, if they have that much time on their hands, they need to get a life of their own.
I have a very cavalier attitude about what others think of me. I don't really care, nor have I ever really cared about what others think of me. It is God and me, who matter in this area. If I am happy with who I am, doing the next right thing and God is pleased with me, it's all good in my world.
In our society, one upping the neighbors seems to be the goal. Not in my house. I am happiest when I can help someone else and make others smile. Skipping to the beat of my own drummer makes me smile. Loving life and fantasizing the freedom to be happy with who I am.
