Why is so important to win? Aren't we out here to have fun? We've accomplished that. The faces of my teammates last week, mine too for that matter, were down cast and frustrated.
It's time to remember, we are all imperfect. Some are better than others at sports, they may be bad at something else. Everyone has strong points and weak points.
For me I have to give myself a reality check. It's in the trying your best that you succeed. Stepping out to do something for the fun of it, even if I suck at it, is a victory. It's powerful to have the courage to allow yourself to look the fool if you really want to try something new.
Only freaks are perfect at something the first time they do it. Everyday at work I try to help people get back on their feet, literally. I have found the biggest problem is fear. To care about someone, know they are capable of standing, walking even, just to have fear stop them in their tracks. So sad.
I am glad to have the courage to step onto the kickball field and look stupid, inept, and uncoordinated. I know if I keep at it, I'll get better, or not. Tonight I'll remember we all have insecurities, I won't let mine stop me. Fantasizing the freedom to catch the ball or make a home run!!
