Change, while scary, is necessary for growth. Fighting change only creates frustration and stagnation, characterized by lack of development, advancement, or progressive movement.
Many times change is preceded by some kind of chaotic event. I know for me, some of the events that led to the biggest changes, I thought would be the end of me. In fact, these events were the end of the me I was.
It is easy to spot someone that has not taken the initiative to actively change in a positive way. Some of the signs include; Lethargy, a bitter attitude, a judgmental, critical spirit and many times physical deterioration.
To institute a change for the better takes time and effort. The bigger the change, the greater the effort. If you ask someone why they don't make change, the answer is very often one of the following;
1) It's too hard.
2) I can't.
3) I can't.
4) It's too hard, blah, blah, blah.
I would submit to you that people will not make the effort to change unless or until, staying the same is harder than changing. EVEN then, most won't. Why? Because they say "I can't".
These people are absolutely correct. If you think and/or say you can't then you definitely can't. The ability only becomes feasible when you think, believe and SAY, I CAN! That's all it takes. The declaration that I can change, begins the change.
You are the only one who can change you. I remember when I started as a personal fitness trainer. Prospects would ask me: "Can you make me skinny?" To which I would answer: "No, only you can do that. I can teach you how." Anyone asking that question, and receiving my answer, would end their journey right at that point.
What I have found to be the biggest catalyst for change is taking one step at a time. I can do one thing today to take me closer to my dreams. Just take the one step and see where it takes you.
