Keeping my shoes by the bed, telling myself to just do it has paid off in big ways. Just today get those shoes on, out the door and walk. One day at a time.
I hated being fat and dieting. So, I changed myself, one step at a time. Couldn't afford a personal trainer, so I studied hard and became one. Helping other women to get in shape, got me in shape 13 years ago.
Of course, there are good days, months and years, then there are not so good ones. In those hard times, I remember the slogan and get off my duff and just do it. Pick up some weights, the heavier the better and Just DO IT. I have found that it doesn't take a lot of time, it does take a lot of tenacity and consistency.
While right now I am focusing on physicality, this method works in all arenas. It works when I want to write or learn something new, change careers, get sober, or step up to the plate and play kickball. Just for today I can do anything.
I do not know where all this working, dreaming and believing will carry me, but I do know it will carry me somewhere I've never been before. What are your dreams? Travel, get an education, lose weight, fall in love, or?... Just do it, one step, one day at a time, your life can change, your dreams can come true.
