As a therapist in a skilled nursing facility, a ball is a wonderful tool in our toolbox. Everyone was delighted by our new bright green ball. That's how I feel about my bright new life.
If you'd have told me two years ago that I would one day be happy, successful and healthy I would have laughed in your face. Today, I am all of those things and more.
I'm not going to tell you it was easy, but I will tell you that anyone can do it. No matter how far you've fallen, where there is life, there is hope for a better future.
I was at a point where I was planning my suicide, down to the finest detail. Now I am looking forward to today and everyday after that. Good, bad or indifferent, one never knows what a day will bring. I start with; Lord help me today and end with thank you.
Bouncing back first begins with the decision to do so. The second step is to ask for help. I don't know about you, for me asking for help in the past, meant, I was a failure. Step three is to take action. Doing one thing today to change, will start you on the road to recovering your life. Today it is my life line. Funny thing is, others really want to help. We are created, I believe, to learn to love and help others.
No matter what you have done or believe about yourself, you and you alone, have the power to decide to get up and fight for yourself. When my daughter was growing up and complained she had no friends, I always told her; be your own best friend. I am now taking my own advice. If you wouldn't do it, say it or think in about someone else, don't, do it, say it or think it about yourself.
Fantasizing the freedom to treat myself well and keep on bouncing.
