We got married as teenagers. Many said, "It won't last." This photo was taken in front of our first apartment in Apple Valley, CA. We were 17 and 19 years old, it was 1976.
Yes, we had tough times. We also had great times, hard times, times of loss and gain. Through it all, we decided to work through it and make our lives better.
We went to school, counseling, church, retreats and moved around a lot. Through it all we raised two fabulous children and built a good life together. In fact, today, we both realize, our entire lives are full of each other. Every memory, every sorrow and every joy.
People ask how we did it? There are so many answers, one trite response cannot cover it all. We did it, one day at a time. We did it with commitment. We did it with hope and faith. We did it with blood, sweat and a lot of tears.
These days, people tend to give up too easily. Not only on relationships, but jobs, school, dreams!
I wonder what the world would look like if we all followed our dreams. Even believed we could! The dreams God placed in our hearts on the day we were born? Think back to yours.
I always wanted to be a writer. This is writing. . . maybe not what I had in mind, but it nourishes my soul. When ones soul is nourished, it opens up possibilities once thought impossible.
All these years later, I still believe in the power of my dreams. Everyday is a new opportunity to see them come true. It's only impossible if you believe it is. Today, I believe all things are possible. I also believe, all I have to do is the next right thing, follow my heart and step out in the face of fear.
Fantasizing the freedom to be courageous, following my heart always!
