It's amazing when I put someone on a pedestal in my mind. Imagining their life to be so much better than mine. They look better, dress better, drive a better car. Then that person gives their testimony at church and I hear all the hardships they have suffered, the trials they've endured and suddenly they become a real person.
Suddenly, my life isn't so bad. Everybody has problems. It's how we handle ourselves in the midst of them that shows the world our true colors.
Can we carry ourselves with grace when we have a sick child, our spouse leaves us or we lose our job? Can we continue to care about others when our lives are falling apart. Can we persevere through school when everything in our mind is a mess and we feel like we're going crazy?
One foot in front of the other is all one can manage sometimes. It's the very act of putting one foot in front of the other that carries us through. The great Psalm 23:1 says' "Ye though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil." It's in the walking through, God is with us. He will continue to walk with us through life as long as we invite Him to do so.
So, whatever you may be going through, keep going. Eventually the clouds will clear, you will see, the sun was there all along. We all have a journey in this life. We are born to walk it out. We come into this life alone and we leave it alone. It is up to us alone to realize our destiny. Fantasizing the freedom to go through hard times and keep on going.
