Funny how aches and pains may plague my body at rest, but get moving and all bets are off. I am surprised actually, as I recall, not one ache or pain all day long. Now, I did feel like throwing up at one point. Got a little too ambitious and carried a box I probably shouldn't have.
I remember that feeling while working out at 20 Minutes to Fitness, lifting such heavy weight and feeling like I would vomit. But ohh, it felt so good, in a sick kind of way. I felt that way today. Good friends, sweat and the feeling of accomplishing something good.
God created our bodies to move and work. Not to be dormant. Working in a skilled nursing facility with, mainly, the elderly, has given me a good perspective on the capabilities of our bodies. Those who spent time through their lives, exercising, participating in sports or just deliberate workouts, fair much better than those who did not.
Still, no matter what, none of us gets out of this life alive. Some are scathed worse than others along the way. Some bed-ridden, some in terrible pain, sick, feeble, you name it. We are also, not all on the same mission in this life on Earth. All are equipt the same.
The thing to remember is; we are not our bodies. These bodies were given us as a vehicle to get through this human experience, shed and move on. Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel a bit nostalgic about what I used to look like and never will again. So, I try not to look too much. If I don't look, I'm okay. Do the best you can and then live life on life's terms.
I fantasize that I am beautiful and free of the need to try to stay young. Beauty comes in all kinds of packages. We don't have to present as a young, thin or whatever the trend of the day says we do. Fantasize the freedom from vanity and set yourself free to feel vibrant and beautiful at any age.
