I was speaking to a dear friend yesterday about how our lives are shaped by the hard things we endure. If we find a place to arrange them, they can become beautiful in the scheme of our lives. We are a mosaic of the shards of broken moments, sometimes our broken lives.
My mom once explained to me as she dumped all my drawers on the floor. You sometimes need to make a mess before you can clean it up properly. Okay, I guess she was right. I think of her often when I'm in the middle of a mess, either literally or figuratively.
When you look back over your life, take an inventory of the times you felt the worst. How was life following that event or time period? For me, the times I felt like my life was certainly over, turned out to be the best thing that could have happened at that point.
If not for the hard times we could not appreciate and treasure the good times. For it is in the hard times that we grow stronger, OR be crushed. Even in the times I was crushed, I came up out of it with the mosaic it took to put myself back together an entirely new creation. It's not easy, but it is worth the effort.
Never give up on yourself. Do your best to look in the mirror an ask yourself, what can I do today to shape the future? What can I change to or arrange in my mosaic to make it more beautiful? Then do.
