We don't have any control over what other people believe. They don't have any control over what I believe. I choose to believe I am big enough to handle what others put out.
It is my choice who I associate with and who I do not. I have people directly responsible for my being in existence who don't give a rats ass about me. Then there are those who have no common blood that I would die for.
It is said, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. WRONG! If you are an adult, you certainly can choose who to include in your inner circle, which, to me, means family.
I choose those who lift me up and allow me to do the same for them. Those who are real and humble and loving. The rest are people I see occasionally and don't affect me one way or the other.
My "family" loves me and I them. There are no ulterior motives or agendas. It is mutual respect and care. We can have this with whomever we choose. Just like we choose a spouse or adopt a child.
Your family are the people that make you a better person. Choose wisely. Fantasizing the freedom to love whom I choose to love.
