I had to respond in her support. Sometimes our best is not good enough, but, it's all we have. She, loving her children, failed to protect. Not out of negligence, but out of a lack of ability to coral a free spirited child. Are many of us, not guilty of the same thing?
I for one was. My beautiful, free (high) spirited girl was impossible to parent. When it came down to life or death, her father and I had to make hard choices. Today she is alive, well, flourishing as a great mom, a highly intelligent woman and still full of strong will.
This mom didn't get the opportunity to raise her boy to adulthood. He made choices she could not control. Today she suffers, grieves and tries to go on for her other children. I send her much love and compassion. I hope you will too.
There, but for the grace of God, go I. Fantasizing the freedom to give others grace in their dark times.
