Allison and I work together. The team name sprang from one of the residents there. She has a platypus she carries around and on about. She has named it so many times I couldn’t tell you what it is now.
The men in our therapy department have taken to teasing her, telling her it is a duck. Wellllll, let me tell you, she will fight for platypus at all cost. Therefore the name Platypus ducks.
I wish she had the capacity to understand how much we love her and appreciate her humor, Frances, here’s to you and your gumption. After discussion, we decided it would do her heart, and ours, good, to tell her about the name of our team and how she inspired us. Tell it with enthusiasm and excitement. She will certainly understand the emotion we are expressing.
This is one way we can convey her importance through feelings. How happy she makes us. It is wonderful to have the freedom, so few possess, to express my feelings honestly without fear of rejection. You see, it’s more about giving than what is given. Today I am free to be rejected without feeling diminished.
Today I am happy. My life is full of good, strong, intelligent, positive family and friends. It’s full of babies and toddlers and mothers and daughters, sons and husband and KICKBALL!!!
I am so happy that all concern about not having the ability to run and kick and catch and keep up with the young adults I’m playing with was unfounded. SO MUCH FUN!
Fantasize the freedom today, to do something you’re afraid to do. Give yourself the freedom to try. Today I’m doing things I would have never thought possible a few years ago. If I can do it anybody can.
