Not everyone is meant to go to college, if this were true, who would collect our trash, fix our cars and build our pools? In fact, there are many self made men and women around the world, successful and smart who never set foot in a college.
Reigning myself in here for a minute; this is not the direction I intended to go at all. . . my point is, when you see a talent or passion in a child, foster that. Praise that. We are all made for a purpose. Nobody's purpose is of greater importance than another.
We need each other and each others uniqueness. Sometimes you may have one purpose during one season of your life, another as the seasons progress.
If you dream of being something you don't see possible, either change your dream, or better yet, change your mind.
I believe if God plants a dream, a passion, in you, He also planted a way to make it happen. If you are a fish, be the best fish you can be. If you are a monkey, climb the biggest tree in your world.
We aren't all fish and we aren't all monkeys so whatever it is God created you for, celebrate that. Don't be jealous or envious of a fish if you are a monkey. Chances are that monkey envy's your fishiness.
The fact is, there is only one of me and there is only one of you. It's far better to be the best you, you can be, rather than a pale imitation of someone else. Fantasizing the freedom to be the best Sharon I can be.
