Courage: Action in the face of fear. Do it afraid.
I have been blessed with courage. It hasn't always felt that way, but as I look back over my life, I usually "go for it". Especially when someone tells me I can't. Just watch and see.
Because of this, I've encountered a lot of help through grace, as well as a lot of mountains to climb. These mountains have made me stronger than I otherwise would have been. For me, they represented all the nay sayers, they pushed me onward.
If you want something out of life, go for it. Ask yourself, "What's the worst thing that can happen?" Anything less than maiming and death shouldn't stop you. Ask for help everyday, to overcome what lies ahead, then go there.
I watched the movie "Wild" a few weeks ago with my husband. What struck me the most is Cheryl's condition at the outset of a long journey, then, her condition at the end. In some cases, when you take something huge on, once you're in it, there's simply no going back. Oh, you can certainly quit. Even then you are a changed person. It's in the quitting that one loses courage. Takes on defeat.
Don't let quitting do that to you. Gear up and start again. The shame is in holding onto the fear and letting it stop you before you've even begun. Fantasizing the freedom and courage to say yes to opportunities unimagined.
