James 4:13-15 (partial) Tells us: "you say;Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”-- 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. . . 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
I try to remember this when making a declaration. It's easy to say, see you tomorrow. Will I? Who but God knows. I DO know; life can change in the blink of an eye. Therefore, I plan for the future and stay open to the present.
Even if this present moment is hard or painful, it will pass. I realize this is a broad generalization, still, often true. Sometimes the pain remains, in the case of a death or other tragedy, but, it will become more tolerable as time goes by.
For me, the point is to grow along spiritual lines. To trust God, do my best to be faithful, upright and keep on moving ahead. Even the most painful experiences are fruitful to the learning and growing process if we are open to it.
Fantasizing the freedom to plan for the future and stay in the vast possibilities of the present.
