I think of my favorite movie of all time: "It's a wonderful life." I try to watch it every Christmas season. It's about a man who thinks the world would be a better place without him. An angel comes and wipes him out of existence, then proceeds to show him what was different without him. It wasn't a pretty picture.
The reason I love this movie, is; it opens my eyes to see how very important every soul is. Hebrews 13:2 tells us; "2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." Everyone is valuable, even who you might classify as a "bum" in the streets. We all have a purpose to fulfill.
Everyone is due respect as a human being. If you shine your light wherever you go, no matter how small you think it is, it will grow. We can all agree that fire spreads quickly and quietly. Soon it will light up the night sky.
My husband managed over 75 people in a wastewater treatment plant. The maintenance crew and the operations crew carried an, us verses them attitude. It was a negative, dismal place. UNTIL, he hired a maintenance worker at the lowest level who was a Godly man. This man and my husband would meet daily to pray over the workers. It didn't take very long before the environment changed, until, almost everyone started to follow his lead.
One man with a quiet faith and love in his heart for everyone, made a difference. So can you. Fantasizing the freedom to shine my light wherever I go and love even the unlovely.
